With four games to go in the Men's League Gold Division before the Playoffs, the Intruders have clinched the pennant, repeating their 2009 regular season title. Six games remain on the schedule for the Silver Division before Playoffs and last year's third place team, the Hawks, is this year's champion. Congatulations to Clarence and the Intruders and Jim and his Hawks!
This year Gold teams were scheduled for 44 games and Silver teams 36 or 38. The July-August monsoon wiped out much of the middle of the season schedule, including the late games on August 26, but we're hoping for more temperate weather for the final five weeks.
Managers: A reminder that we use one new ball per doubleheader. When the new game ball becomes dusty, clean it with a wet wipe (or have the catcher do that) or at the end of the inning replace it with a clean playable ball. Remember that the team that hits the ball over the fence--fair or foul--is responsible for retrieving and replacing the ball.
The Mens League plays games on Thursday nights at the Bird Athletic Complex behind L. C. Bird High School in Chester Virginia. Each team plays two 50-minute games a night. The league is open to all men 50 and better. A registration form may be printed at "Registration" on the menu bar above. As of April 16, 2010 there are several openings in the Men's Silver Division. Anyone who cannot be placed on a team immediately will be wait-listed and not required to pay until placed on a team.
